Exciting the program
Location: Harlem, New York City.
Author: Enrique Moya-Angeler

This urban proposal addressed to the neighborhood of Harlem in New York City is developed in the block situated between 129th and 130st street and Broadway and 12th Avenue, close to Columbia University. The main ideas are to void a tabula rasa, to keep the existing infrastructure and to resolve the problem from the detail to the whole going property by property. The proposal will be developed in three phases: Analysis of the existing program, injection of a minimal intervention in order to excite the existing program as programmatic activators and incorporate a Columbia University program in order to generate a hybrid with the existing activity. Four cases are studied in this block: Autoparts in two parts: Community Center & Gym+Observatory; Papito’s Auto Repair & Bio-Labs; Pearlgreen Construction & Engineer Labs; and Mamais Construction & Dorms for student: the Rose Green-Wash.
